Why can't I find my vehicle?

Why build year is important?

Build year is the year in which the car was manufactured. It is important that the build year is correct when identifying your car. If the wrong year is selected it could dramatically change the valuation of your car.

Where to find it

The build plate should be located in one of the following locations:

Engine Bay
Door Sills
Door pillar
Boot

How to identify it?

Use the below example to identify the build plate. Please note that the build year is different to compliance date or the year the car was first registered. Registration papers/stickers are not always a reliable source for build year.

Build Date

This is the month and year the car was built in the factory. You can often find this information on your car's build plate which could be located in the following places:

The month and year the vehicle has been certified to comply with local conditions and is available for sale.

Has your car been declared a write-off?

A car is considered a write-off for two reasons.

It has been damaged to such an extent that it is uneconomical to repair (repairable write-off).
The damage is so great that it is not safe to repair it for registration and road use (statutory write-off).

If your car is a repairable write-off or a statutory write-off, select Yes.

Roadworthy certificate

A roadworthy certificate is likely to be a requirement in your state. It is an authorised document that certifies the car is legally safe to be driven on public roads. For more information please refer to your local road transport authority.

Based on private carsales listings from August 2024 to August 2025, ads at or below the suggested listing price on average receive more enquiries than those priced above the suggested listing price. Your result may vary depending on factors such as vehicle condition, location, and buyer demand.
